Mickey Finn
An old and well tested pattern for trout
Stoneflies in Mexico
Stonefly nymphs are the last thing I want to be tying when in a place like that but commercial tying happens where you are. If you want to be far flung from home you have to finance those trips somehow.
Hopper/Stone hybrids
I’m sure they worked but I’m not really tying them now. I really enjoy tying and fishing foam bugs.
Pile 'o' jimmy's
Not sure how many but a bunch.
Pretty Close
Grass hopper fishing is about as exciting as it gets. I start trying foam hoppers in late July after the stonefly hatch thins out on the Bow River and you can have good success.
What they see
Underside view of a Hopper Dropper rig
Pile of greasy chenille worms
Possibly one of the easiest flies out there to tie. effective non-the-less
Olive Creepers
Bonefish flies in a trout fly gallery. Goes to show you can’t believe everything you see on the internet.
Some Hi Viz chubbys
the yellow tops are for the angler to see them better. The fish only see the black underside.
Tan Creepers
This is actually a salt water fly that made its way into the trout gallery. This is a pattern of my design that has been used sucessfully all over the tropics. works especially well in extremely shallow water situations which need to be landed softly.
A high visibility lineup
What sets some of my flies apart from those found elsewhere is that I put a lot of emphasis on the clients ability to see the bug. If they can see the flies well, they will mend better, present better, see the eats better, and have a much more enjoyable time while dry fly fishing.
White Gartside
Tied on a 65’ jog hook.
Elk Hair Caddis
Timeless classic. I tie them on a Daiichi 1150 stout hook for the powerful fish of the Bow
Chubby Chernobyl
extremely effective pattern during the Golden Stonefly hatch on the Bow River. I like to tie mine with a shorter shanked hook and go with a larger sized Gap
Skiddish Smolt
Extremely effective pattern on the Bow especially during low clear water and when stripped extremely fast.
Damsel
I tied these up a few years back while in a bit of a lake fishing stint.
PMD cripples
I still had a couple of these in a box that I used this Summer. This is such a great pattern for picky Pale Morning Dun fish.
Foam flies ready for the AM
DynAAmite leech
One of my all time best sellers. A Bow river staple for me.
Peacock leeches
A good Bow river leech imitation
Pink Dink Jigs
I cast these 1/32 oz jigs (no I really meant I cast these, as in I melted lead and poured it into a mould and the works. ) on #1 Gammy jig hooks. It took a lot of fussing to get the formula right but I’ve got em dialed now. Fantastic streamer for Cutthroat trout and Bull Trout.
Dropper fly
Un-named dropper fly I was using a lot a few years back. Looks like I could’ve used some moisturizer.
Red Lightning bugs
Good winter fly and as a dropper anytime.
Hopper
These were made from a cutter kit.
Hi Viz Hoppers
I put t-shirt paint up the back of these foam hoppers for even more visibility.
Chenille worm
They work.
