Fun is the Who, When and the Where, not the , Why or How.

How much fun can you have for $80 ??

They say the best things in life are free and I definitely agree. This last season I brought a Red Rider BB gun to Norlakes and I’d have to say that this must be a close second. I doesn’t have to be 1000yrd shots from a $5000 rifle, Its the banter, company and camaraderie.

Yama and Keio were all about the shootout.

Yama and Keio were all about the shootout.

We started with a beer can at 10 yards and it slowly expanded to 5 shot time trials. Another gun was added to accommodate the crowds on the porch of the guide shack. Hanging beer cans at 20 yards with a specific sequence and time trials was the next step. It ended with 3’ x 3’ metal “gong” which sounded like a counter bell when hit with the Copper BB’s. It was rusty steel so you could barely see it and we were too lazy to anchor it properly so it would spin. The Gong’s broadside was not always the side facing you. So what did we do. . . . . . figure it out . Shoot at it anyway. Numerous attempts at hitting the “antennae” on top of the lodge. (Some of us did it with one shot and won a tenner for it. It’s actually quite surprising how accurate these guns are for what they are.

Sooooo much fun for the kids. We would fill the guns each day and they’d be much closer to empty when we return.

Lots of laughs were had this last season with these Red Ryder BB guns. I have a feeling that one will show up in my Bow River camp this summer.
