The Norwegian Mustache

Norwegian Mustaches

I met Michor Last summer in Fernie, and he had asked me if I did any custom tying. He had a fly that he wanted to be replicated that had special meaning to him. The pattern originated in 1942 by his Great grandfather Morley Griswold. The fly was named after his Norwegian gardener who apparently smoked a lot and had a nicotine-stained white moustache. His great grandfather had Caught a freakshow steelhead of 28lbs on the Deschutes during a Field and Stream contest on this pattern of his own.

Michor sent me what he knew about it, including some notes from one of Morley’s sons. I told him I would do some research and either Tie it for him or find someone who could. I never did find much of it other than what he had sent me.

Found the notes from my discussion with unc Bill. Might be helpful not sure...

A couple of weeks back I got around to tying his Great grandad's favourite flies and sent them off in the mail. I was pleased with how they turned out and Honored that I could help out with such a cool story.
