After Spring Steelhead, It was time to head East to prepare for Bow River Spey Camps. I made a bit of a detour to fish with good friends Paul and Phil in Castlegar BC.

It turns out our timing was wrong and it turned into a beer-drinking, sightseeing, good food eating catchup. That's ok tho I don't get to see those guys near enough.

We had our fav BBQ spots all sorted by the end of the week.

In 2021 I've been forced to go to single occupancy in the camp as per COVID protocols. It's ok tho. I'm pleased with the new small bell tents of the camp. It just costs money.

The Old “Big Tent” set up for single occupancy.

The new smaller tents are still plenty big for one and nice and cozy once the cots and table are added.

The weather was cool and challenging at times but the wind stayed away enough each day to allow the guests some great instruction and practice. (Above) the fellas bring it in during a line balancing demo on the Bow. The Spey Camp isn’t just about casting. We cover lots of material including swing technique, rod balancing and general Spey fishing overview.

The new "Mess Tent" has been an excellent addition to the camp. Each season these small improvements make it more and more comfortable despite the outside conditions. It's nice because we can be out at the firepit if the weather is good. If the weather is cold or wet, we can gather in the Mess tent and relax in warmth and comfort.
